A group of BJP youth wing workers took to the streets in Kolkata on the night of Tuesday, 25 June, chanting Hanuman Chalisa as a mark of protest against the “blocking of roads” by Muslims every Friday during namaz.
The protesters gathered near Bally Khal in Howrah. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members said they plan to make it a regular event.
The state continues to reel under the tension between TMC and BJP workers. The BJP had recently alleged that TMC workers were engaged in violence in Bankura village area against a few of new members of BJP.
On Tuesday, a BJP delegation led by MP SS Ahluwalia submitted its report to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the alleged killing of its workers and violence in Bhatpara.
Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also criticised the BJP for politicising ‘Jai Shri Ram’. She had landed in a major controversy when she shouted at a group of people who chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at her convoy.
