Yeti Airlines Aircraft With 72 Onboard Crashes in Nepal, At Least 68 Dead

A 72-seater Yeti Airlines aircraft with 68 passengers and four crew members on board, crashed at Nayagaun, close to Pokhara International Airport in Nepal on Sunday, 15 January.
So far, 68 people have been confirmed dead by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
The aircraft contacted the control tower at 10.50 am before it went off the radar, local media reported.

"We don't know right now if there are survivors."
"I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident of Yeti Airlines ANC ATR 72, which was flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara with passengers. I sincerely appeal to the security personnel, all agencies of the Nepal government and the general public to start an effective rescue," Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Twitter.
The airport has been closed and rescue operations are on.
