What Is the NMC Bill All About?

The National Medical Commission Bill has a four-tier structure for the regulation of medical education.

The commission will basically do the overall supervision of the four autonomous boards that will deal with undergraduate and postgraduate education, assessment and rating of medical institutions and registration of medical practitioners, and enforcement of medical ethics.

There will also be a Medical Advisory Council which will be constituted by the central government. This council will basically be advisory, and will meet minimum once a year.

It will be the primary platform through which the states will put forward their concerns before the NMC. This will overall help in building the agenda in the medical education and training industry.
