Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) founder VG Siddhartha was cremated at his coffee estate in Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday, 31 July, two days after he went missing.
In the early hours of Wednesday, the coffee tycoon's body was recovered from the Netravati river in Karnataka.
A letter purportedly written by him, which surfaced online after he went missing, says that he was under "tremendous pressure" from lenders, private equity partners, and that he had “failed as an entrepreneur”.
But did he?
Since the news of his death surfaced, people have been coming on social media to pay their tributes to Siddhartha, fondly remembering their own ‘CCD memories’.

CCD had quickly turned into the hub for the college hangouts after it opened in India. For some, it still is.
Siddhartha, the Visionary Entrepreneur
Siddhartha was the son-in-law of former Karnataka CM SM Krishna. According to his profile on MindTree, his family had been in the coffee growing business for more than 130 years.
A number of people came forward to praise Siddhartha for the great entrepreneur he was.
