In his first public statement since the incident, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday, 1 December, described the rape and murder of a 26-year old woman in Hyderabad by four men as ‘ghastly’ and expressed his deep anguish.

He also ordered setting up of a fast-track court for expeditious trial in the case of rape and murder of the woman veterinarian and assured all necessary help to her family, according to PTI.

The CM directed the officials to initiate the process for setting up a fast-track court and ensure that the culprits get tough punishment, a statement from his office said.

The government is ready to extend all necessary help to the family of the woman veterinarian, the statement added.

The statement from KCR came after many pointed out that the Telangana CM had not said anything on the horrific rape-murder of the 26-year-old veterinary doctor.

Sangareddy Congress MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy said that Rao should have called on the parents of the woman who was killed, according to The Hindu. According to Reddy, KCR’s visit would have shown that the government was serious about the issue and would not sit back and accept any such future incidents.
