Harkamal Ranu, one of the eight sharpshooters who allegedly opened fire on Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, has been arrested from Bathinda by Punjab police on Friday, 10 June, his family said.

Ranu's family has claimed that they were the ones who handed him over to the Punjab police.

Gurcharan Singh, the grandfather of the accused, said, “Before handing him over to the police, I spoke with Harkamal, but he has denied any wrongdoing and involvement in the crime."

Punjabi singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala was fatally shot on 29 May by unidentified men near Jawaharke village in Punjab's Mansa district. According to the reports, the autopsy suggested that the body received 25 bullet injuries.

Other Developments in the Case

Four shooters were identified by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday, as the state police arrested at least eight others for providing logistic support, conducting recce, and harbouring the shooters.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) also identified four shooters involved in the murder of the singer.

Meanwhile, the state police has sought a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who had claimed responsibility for the murder of the singer.

Brar, or Satinder Singh, is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently behind bars.

Brar is currently known to be hiding in Canada.
