Section 144 of the CrPC that prohibits assembly of more than four people has been imposed in Mumbai from 9 November till 11 am on 10 November, the Mumbai Police spokesperson said.
This comes as a precautionary measure as the Supreme Court pronounced its verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case, on 9 November, Saturday.
Settling the 70-year-long legal dispute, the SC bench unanimously said that the disputed site will become a government land until a trust is set up to initiate the construction of a temple.
At least 40,000 police personnel have been deployed in Mumbai in view of the Supreme Court's verdict on the sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid suit, officials said.
The situation will be monitored through drone units and live CCTV feeds from the police control room.
The financial capital had witnessed communal riots after the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya in December 1992 and January 1993.
