A group of men, purportedly right-wing activists, barged inside a school's premises in Gurugram's Pataudi and disrupted Christmas celebrations on Friday, 24 December.

A video from the incident, which has gone viral, shows the group raising 'Jai Shree Ram' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogans.

Speaking to The Quint, Pataudi Station House Officer Amit Sharma said that the men entered the school thinking religious conversion was taking place but left when the school authorities told them it was a Christmas event.

"This incident happened inside a school's premises. The men thought religious conversion was happening but when the school authorities told them it was a Christmas event, they left."

On being questioned about a complaint being filed, Sharma said that neither of the two parties had filed any complaint and the police took cognisance after the video went viral.

In another video, a man can be heard telling a group of children that "we are not disrespecting Jesus, but we want to tell the future generation to not get lured by other religions, else Indian culture will get destroyed."

In a separate incident, Hindutva groups disrupted Christmas celebrations at a school in Karnataka’s Mandya alleging conversion.

A mob of nearly 30 to 40 people stormed inside a convent school campus and alleged that the children were being brainwashed and accused the sisters of converting the children to Christianity by celebrating Christmas.

(Corrigendum: An earlier version of the story incorrectly stated that the incident happened inside a church. The story has been updated to remove any such reference. The error is regretted.)
