“The BJP is 100 percent attacking every institution of the country, including the Constitution and the Supreme Court,” Rahul Gandhi said, moments after the keenly-watched floor test in Karnataka ended with BJP’s BSY Yeddyurappa resigning from the post, handing over the reins of the state to the Congress-JD(S).

The PM is not bigger than the country and its institutions, he said, adding: “The PM’s model of leadership is not that of a democratic person”. The Congress chief’s comments came at a press conference, called on 19 May, to mark the Congress-JD(S) win in Karnataka.

Gandhi trained his guns on the BJP, saying that the institutions of India are bigger than the BJP’s money and muscle. He also alleged that BJP legislators were seen leaving the house before the national anthem – an action he alleged as being disrespectful.

Did you notice that after the entire exercise in Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, the BJP legislators and speaker chose to leave the house before the national anthem? It shows they can disrespect any institution if in power, both BJP and RSS have disrespected institutions.

Gandhi also criticised Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, accusing him of working for the BJP and under the Prime Minister’s orders.
