The entry of foreign tourists to the entire Union Territory (UT) has been banned as a precautionary measure in view of the coronavirus outbreak around the world, ANI reported, quoting the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

Two people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Karnataka's Kalburgi and Bengaluru, the state Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said on Monday, 16 March.

Pakistan reported its first casualty due to the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, health ministry officials said as the number of positive cases of the COVID-19 infections rose to 193 in the country, reported PTI.

In the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday, has issued a circular restricting the functioning in both of its Jammu and Srinagar wings to urgent matters only till 31 March, reported ANI.
The Rajasthan government on Tuesday banned all gatherings at public places exceeding 50 people till March 31 to fight the coronavirus outbreak, said an official statement, reported PTI.
The ban was imposed as per directions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot who decided to resort to the precautionary measure after a high-level meeting on late Monday night to take stock of the situation, the statement added.

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the scheduled test for Airmen Recruitment planned to be held in 86 cities from 19 -23 March has been postponed tentatively to the last week of April this year, reported ANI, quoting Air Force spokesperson Group Captain Anupam Banerjee.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Tuesday reviewed the level of preparedness to contain novel coronavirus threat with states bordering Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The home secretary urged all officials to ensure that round the clock deployment of doctors, with requisite testing kits and other medical supplies, be done so that 100 per cent screening is done without fail, the statement said.
The World Health Organisation on Tuesday recommended that people suffering from COVID-19-like symptoms should avoid self-medicating with ibuprofen, after French authorities warned anti-inflammatory drugs could worsen the effects of the virus, reported PTI.
"In the meantime, we recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. That's important," he said.

The Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services on Tuesday said visitor meetings of prisoners at all jails in the state have been cancelled in view of the coronavirus threat, reported PTI.
As part of precautionary measures 'mulaqats' of prisoners with visitors has been cancelled in all jails in Telangana with immediate effect to reduce movement and exposure of inmates to ensure social distancing and for maintaining their proper hygienic condition and safety in prisons, an official release said.
"They may avail telephone facility and e-mulaqats to talk with inmates until lifting of the restrictions," the release said.
A 58-year-old Indonesian man tested positive for coronavirus in Telangana on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in Telangana to five, reported PTI.

State-run transport body MSRTC has suffered a loss of over Rs 3 crore due to cancellation of nearly 21,000 bus services since 11 March in view of the coronavirus outbreak in Maharashtra and low occupancy, said officials on Tuesday, reported PTI.
Of these, 9,262 services were cancelled on 16 March alone, causing a loss of Rs 1.28 crore to the corporation, he said.

The World Health Organization's (WHO) regional office for Europe on Tuesday said there is a need for bold measures in all European countries, calling the continent the "epicentre" of the new coronavirus pandemic, reported AFP.

Aviation regulator DGCA on Tuesday asked airlines to disinfect and deep-clean each plane at least once in 24 hours and place hand sanitizers in lavatories and galleys of each aircraft in view of coronavirus pandemic, reported PTI.

The decision to suspend air services to the UK and the European Union member countries was taken in the wake of travel and visa restrictions due to the coronavirus outbreak, Air India said in a tweet.
The airline flies to London and Brimingham in the UK, and Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, Stockholm and Copenhagen in Europe.
People availing quarantine facilities at three private hotels- Lemon Tree, Red Fox, IBIS - identified by the Delhi government in the wake of coronavirus outbreak will have to pay charges, official orders said.
The people showing symptoms of coronavirus and those coming from COVID-19 hit countries have to undergo compulsory quarantine for 14 days.
According to three separate orders issued by New Delhi District Magistrate Tanvi Garg, people using quarantine facilities at these three hotels will have to pay Rs 3100, excluding taxes, per day.
The facilities to be provided in such hotels include three meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - two water bottles, tea or coffee and other services such as Wi-Fi and television.
The government has deputed 30 officers of Joint Secretary and above level, to assist state governments in effective management of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

As more instances of foreign tourists in Kerala being targeted over the coronavirus outbreak surfaced on Tuesday, state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan warned of strict action on those taunting the visitors, reported PTI.
"Inhumane acts cannot be allowed and strong action will be taken," Vijayan told reporters after a review meeting of COVID-19.
Delhi Police on Tuesday appealed to the public to assemble at any place for protest, dharna, rally, entertainment or any other purpose, whether in close space or outside till 31 March 2020, reported ANI.
Any no objection certificate or permission in respect of such gatherings will not be issued. It is also decided that no license/permission will be issued for public entertainment activities.

A 62-year-old man has died of the coronavirus in Sao Paulo, Brazil, becoming the South American country's first death from the pandemic, local officials said on Tuesday, reported AFP.
The man died on Monday but authorities had not confirmed that the virus was the cause of death until Tuesday.
Buyers do not need to give finger impressions on Point of Sale (PoS) machines at Public Distribution System (PDS) shops in view of the coronavirus threat, the Maharashtra government said on Tuesday. reported PTI.
"The beneficiaries need not give finger impressions on (Aadhar-enabled) E-PoS machines at ration shop. It will help avoid spread of virus infection," Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said.
“Buyers can be given tokens and allotted time slots for making purchases instead of making them queue up, the minister said. If queues are formed, it should be ensured that people stand at appropriate distance from each other,” he added.
Embassy of Russia in India on Tuesday announced that starting 18 March, all Russian diplomatic and consular missions abroad will temporarily suspend accepting any visa applications except for diplomatic, official and regular business visa applications from foreign nationals and stateless persons, reported ANI.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan sharply rose to 212 on Tuesday, amidst conflicting statements by authorities on the nation's first casualty due to the viral infection, reported PTI.

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary to furnish an affidavit on measures being taken by the state government to control coronavirus.
The court also directed the principal secretary and the director general of the Medical and Health Department to file a detailed affidavit in this regard within a week and posted the matter for hearing on 30 March.
IndiGo announced on Tuesday that as aviation regulator DGCA has restricted international traffic from Turkey and Malaysia, it will be cancelling its flights on Delhi-Istanbul route and Chennai-Kuala Lumpur route from 18 March to 31 March.
"These are purely temporary and precautionary measures. We understand that these measures will cause inconvenience to our customers and we will be refunding the full amount to the impacted passengers," the airline stated in a press release.
All passengers landing at the Pune airport from foreign destinations will be put in hospital quarantine for 24 hours irrespective of whether they have any symptoms of coronavirus, a senior official said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

Domestic air travel has come down by 20-30 percent after the coronavirus outbreak and the aviation sector is suffering losses due to it, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Tuesday, reported PTI.
Responding to the debate on the Aircraft (Amendment) Bill, 2020 in Lok Sabha, Puri said national carrier Air India, which was suffering a loss of Rs 26 crore every day, has been further hit due to the outbreak as many routes it flies on have been shut.
An Army officer and one woman have been put under self-quarantine at a military institute in Pune after certain symptoms were observed. If required, their tests for COVID-19 would be conducted, reported ANI, quoting Army sources.
The Mumbai police has been asked to shut pubs, dance bars, discotheques and similar establishments in the city till 31 March in view of the coronavirus outbreak, an official said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

Hyderabad-based CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) has tied up with pharmaceutical giant Cipla to work on development of anti- viral drugs to contain COVID-19.
Research on anti-viral drugs has been on throughout the world for long and many companies have developed molecules having anti-viral properties. But due to lack of demand, these molecules were not widely marketed, according to IICT sources.
However, the CSIR-IICT decided to work on three such molecules -- remdesivir, favipiravir and baloxavir. Cipla urged the IICT director S Chandrasekhar to start work on these molecules on an immediate basis.

A resident of Mahe, who arrived at Calicut International Airport on 13 March, onboard Etihad Airways (EY 250) from Abhu Dhabi has been confirmed with COVID-19, reported ANI, quoting Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Kozhikode District Collector.
“Passengers of this flight residing in Calicut should immediately contact the District Control Room and should strictly be in house quarantine,” Rao said.
