A video has been doing the rounds on Twitter since 22 November, where self-styled Godman Nithyananda can be heard challenging the Indian judiciary. Nithyananda has been accused of child abuse and kidnapping by Gujarat Police after three minor children (a boy and two girls) were rescued from his ashram in the outskirts of Ahmedabad last month. He is said to have established a country ‘Kailaasa’ on an island near Ecuador. However, on Friday, 6 December, the Embassy of Ecuador denied the allegations.

In the video, Nithyananda can be seen not only challenging the judiciary but also claiming himself ‘Lord Param Shiva reincarnate’. He can further be heard blessing his disciples with immortality.

In the video, he says,

“Whole world is against me, you showed integrity towards me by being here, I will show my integrity to you by revealing the reality and truth to you. Nobody can touch me, I am telling you the truth, I am Param Shiva. No stupid court can prosecute me. I guarantee, you don’t have death (sic).”

In another video released on his YouTube channel on 5 December, Nithyananda claims that Kailaasa was formed because he was denied passport renewal and thus, he went and implored Goddess Meenakshi in Madurai, who helped him do so.

Ministry of External Affairs on 6 December stated that they had cancelled his passport much before it was up for renewal in September 2018. Indian authorities are yet to trace the location of rape-accused Nithyananda.
