Mumbai: NCB Raids Party on Cruise Ship Off The Mumbai Coast

Reports say several have been detained following the raids.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday, 2 October, raided a party at a passenger cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai. As per a report by ANI, the NCB is conducting raids in the Belapur area of Navi Mumbai based on information extracted from people onboard the cruise, who have been detained.

According to PTI, a senior official has said that drugs were being used, at the party.

PTI also reported that the ship was near Mumbai, and bound for Goa with hundreds of passengers on board.

Further the official informed PTI that the NCB team led by its zonal director Sameer Wankhede boarded the vessel and conducted searches after receiving a tip-off that a party was scheduled on the ship.

Meanwhile, NDTV has cited sources as saying that several people have been detained following the raid.

Sources in the NCB have told The Quint that drugs were allegedly recovered from a Bollywood superstar's son. The actor's son is currently being questioned by the agency. However, NCB hasn't yet revealed the name of the superstar's son.

NCB officials have also stated that the men detained had allegedly stashed drugs inside the stitches of their trousers. As of now, 13 people have been detained by the NCB. There were over 2000 people onboard the cruise, and the entry fee was Rs 80,000 per person.

According to reports from Saturday evening, no passenger was reportedly allowed to disembark from the cruise while the probe was underway.
