Family members of a bride in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow tonsured the groom, his father and brother for allegedly harassing them over dowry, reported ANI. The incident took place in Kurramnagar area of the city on Sunday, 22 October.

The bride's family filed a police complaint after the incident, the news agency said.

Speaking to ANI, the bride’s grandmother alleged that the groom’s family made demands five days before the wedding and even refused to marry the girl if the demands were not met.

"The groom’s side made some demands just five days before the wedding. He said that he will not marry the girl, if the demands are not met. But I don’t know who tonsured his head," the bride's grandmother told ANI.

The groom demanded motorcycle as dowry but then when he was given one, he asked for another brand, reported NDTV, quoting local media.

The bide’s father, who is a vegetable vendor, agreed to this demand but the groom asked for gold necklace on the wedding day. They were then taken to a park nearby and tonsured, reported the news channel, quoting neighbours.
