“We are fighting against thieves, ” said Gujarat Patidar leader Hardik Patel on Saturday, 19 January, while addressing the Trinamool Congress rally of Opposition parties at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade.

“While Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had given a call to fight against the ‘goro’ (Britishers). We are fighting against ‘choro’ (thieves).”

Patel also thanked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for bringing all major Opposition leaders on one platform. He acknowledged the rally as an indication that the BJP is on its way out of power.

Mamata Banerjee hosted a mega Opposition rally organised by the Trinamool Congress which, she said, would sound the “death knell” for the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls and regional parties would be the deciding factor.
