Delhi's COVID-19 Positivity Rate Jumps to 11.41 Percent, Highest in Six Months

In the last one week, the COVID-19 positivity rate and the number of cases in Delhi have been steadily rising.

Delhi's COVID-19 positivity rate jumped to 11.41 percent, as the city reported 822 new cases and two deaths on Monday, 1 August, according to the data shared by the health department. The positivity rate is highest in six months.

In the last week, the COVID-19 positivity rate and the number of cases in Delhi have been steadily rising. The capital reported more than 1,000 cases for five consecutive days till 31 July.

Delhi currently has 4,274 active cases, down from 4,509 the previous day. As many as 3,161 COVID-19 patients are in home isolation.

On Sunday, the city reported 1,263 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 9.35 percent, whereas it reported 1,333 cases on Saturday, the highest single-day rise in over a month, with a positivity rate of 8.39 percent.

Delhi's COVID tally rose to 19,56,593 cases, while the number of deaths reported till now is 26,313. The latest health bulletin states that out of 9,405 beds reserved for COVID patients in Delhi hospitals, only 307 were occupied on Monday. The city currently has 173 containment zones, it added.

The national capital recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases – 28,867 – on 13 January, during the third wave of the pandemic.
