The Delhi government on Monday, 10 January, announced that restaurants and bars will remain shut for dine-in services in the national capital, as it sees a rise in COVID-19 cases.

"Today's DDMA meeting decided to close restaurants and bars and to allow 'take away' facility only. It was also decided to allow operation of only one weekly market per day per zone."

"Delhi Health Department was advised to make adequate arrangements for additional manpower in hospitals and to scale up the vaccination efforts including for those in age group of 15-18 years," LG Baijal said.

"Officers were advised to strictly ensure wearing of masks and adherence to social distancing by citizens in market places and public areas to break the chain of transmission," he added.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Health Minister Satyender Jain, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, AIIMS chief Dr Randeep Guleria, and NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul were among those in attendance at the meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), where the decisions were taken.

Previously, a weekend curfew and a night curfew had been imposed in Delhi.

The capital city recorded 19,166 positive cases and 17 deaths due to COVID-19 on Monday.
