While attending the World Hindu Economy Forum in Mumbai on Saturday, 28 September, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath blamed the Mughals and Britishers for weakening the country’s economy.

“India was the largest stakeholder in the world economy with over 36 percent share during Mughal era and by the time they left and Britishers came, India’s share got reduced to 20 percent,”
CM Yogi Adityanath

He explained that India used to be the biggest financial power in the world and almost contribute 1/3rd of the world’s economy. But after the attack of Mughals and Britishers, the country was left in total shambles.

He further says that the Britishers weakened the economy and took it down to just 4% by the time they left.
