Addressing a gathering of 175 people in Ayodhya after performing ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ for the Ram Temple, PM Narendra Modi said that despite efforts to eradicate Lord Ram’s existence, he still lives in our hearts and is the basis of our culture.
“The construction of the Ram Temple is an instrument to unite the country… Social harmony was the core principle of Lord Ram’s governance,” he was quoted by PTI as saying.
PM Modi was accompanied by UP CM Yogi Adityanath, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on the stage for the grand event, which comes months after the Supreme Court’s verdict in the 2.77 acre land dispute case.

Congress leader Kamal Nath on said that late PM Rajiv Gandhi is to credit for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

“Indian PM Modi laid Ram Temple's foundation stone in Ayodhya. Connected through Ram-Sita, relationship between the two countries is deep and strong. Ram-Janaki continues to inspire the relationship to become more cooperative and strong in modern times,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
Union Law Minister ravi Shankar Prasad called the foundation stone laying ceremony a historic day.
“It is a historic day. The construction of Ram Temple has started in Ayodhya today after sacrifices, wait and patience of generations. Indians and many people from across the world were waiting for this day for centuries,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu’s family donates Rs 5 lakh each, in aid of the ongoing fight against COVID19 and construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Vice President's Secretariat said.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the Ram temple a ‘defeat of democracy and secularism’.
“India is a secular country. Prime Minister has violated the oath of the office by laying the foundation stone of Ram Mandir. This is the day of the defeat of democracy and secularism and success of Hindutva,” he said, as quoted by ANI.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath thanked PM Modi for attending the event and said that the temple will be the epitome of India’s greatness.
“I thank PM Modi for being present today, at the most awaited moment of the past 500 years. We have to implement the work plan prepared by PM Modi. This temple will not only be the epitome of Lord Ram's greatness but of India's too,” he said, as quoted byu ANI.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that with the foundation laying of Ram Mandir, India has shown how the 500-year-old dispute has been resolved peacefully.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recited Ram Raksha and worshiped Lord Ram with his family at Nagpur during the foundation stone laying ceremony of RamTemple in Ayodhya, ANI reported.
Haryana Minister Anil Vij said that with the foundation-stone laying ceremony, the 500-year-old wait is finally over.

After the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’, PM Modi released a commemorative postage stamp for the 'Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir’. He also inaugurated the plaque for the temple.
In his address after the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ for the Ram Temple concluded, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said there is wave of happiness across the country today.
He pointed out that the COVID-19 outbreak led to many people sacrificing and not attending the event physically.
“There are some who couldn't come here, Advani ji must be at his home watching this. There are some who should've come, but couldn't be invited because of the situation,” he was quoted by ANI as saying.
Hailing PM Modi for the fulfillment of the dream to build the temple, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said people struggled for 500 years for a temple in Ayodhya.
The PM’s foresight and wisdom paved way for a peaceful resolution of the Ram temple issue, he was quoted by PTI as saying.
