The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has allegedly put out a statement saying that they did not assassinate former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, reported Times Now.
LTTE, in a statement released on their letter pad and signed by their Political Wing representative Kurburan Guruswami and Legal Wing representative Lathan Chandralingam, alleged:
They also claimed that Rajiv Gandhi had maintained secret relations with them, reported Times Now.
The LTTE chief Prabhakaran had also claimed that the organisation did not even think of attacking any Indian leader.
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet had earlier recommended the release of Rajiv Gandhi’s killers – who belonged to LTTE – to the governor under Article 161 of the Constitution. The killers have been in jail for 27 years.
