Day 2 of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) Phase 2 was marred by technical glitches across centres. The second shift of the test was cancelled at a centre in Noida on Friday, 5 august, National Testing Agency (NTA) officials told The Indian Express.

The first day of the second phase was just as chaotic. The testing agency said that the test scheduled for Thursday, 4 August, was postponed across the centres in the country due to “technical glitches.”

The exams that were scrapped are set to be held on 12 August.

Meanwhile, Prof M Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, UGC on CUET-UG, said on Sunday that cancellation of the test was done keeping the best interests of the students in mind.

Regarding the issue of technical glitches, he said,

"Due to technical glitches in some of the centres, the rest had to be re-scheduled. At some centres, the centre staff should have shown more empathy with the students. There were also reports and indications of sabotage in the process. NTA immediately swung into action and cancelled and postponed examinations in centres which witnessed such a possibility."

Kumar added that strict action will be taken against those involved in "wilful sabotage" of the process. "NTA is constantly in touch with the students through email, messaging and voice mail to keep them informed of the changes and extra care is being taken in this regard," he added.

Students tweeted that their test, which was being conducted in Sector 64 of Noida, had been cancelled. Their systems were not working, after which they were informed that it had been cancelled, claimed the students.
