The US military launched air strikes against a pro-Iranian group in Iraq following the deaths of two Americans and a Briton in a rocket attack, US military officials told AFP on Thursday.
"The operation is underway" and is targeting weapons facilities, one official said on condition of anonymity, without specifying where the strikes were taking place.

Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) imposed at Bhopal airport after supporters of Congress and BJP gathered at the airport today.
A militant was killed on Friday in a brief encounter with security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
The encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Shahtullo village of Baramulla after security forces launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said.
He said one unidentified militant was killed in the exchange of firing with security forces.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain militant was being ascertained, he added.
US air strikes targeting pro-Iranian military factions in Iraq early Friday killed one civilian and five security personnel, the Iraqi military said in a preliminary toll.
Three of the dead were Iraqi soldiers and two were policemen, the military statement said, adding that 11 Iraqi fighters were also wounded, some of them critically.
The civilian was a cook working at an unfinished airport outside the holy shrine city of Karbala, where another civilian was also wounded in the raids.
A militant was killed in a firefight between insurgents of the NSCN(IM) and Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson) faction in Manipur's Tamenglong district on Friday, police told PTI.
The firefight took place in Longchai village near the Assam-Manipur border around 7 am, a senior police officer said.
"The slain militant has been identified as 31-year-old Kadining Golmei. However, it is yet to be ascertained which outfit he was a member of," he said.
An AK-56 rifle and ammunition have also been seized, the officer added.
Louisiana declared an emergency over the coronavirus pandemic and postponed its April 4 Democratic primary, the first state to do so with the battle for the party's presidential nomination still undecided.
"The law provides for extraordinary measures to be taken when facing disasters," Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin said.
