British actress Emma Watson hailed Deepika Singh Rajawat, the lawyer representing Kathua rape and murder victim’s family. Reacting to a photo on Friday, 4 May, she tweeted, “All power to Deepika Singh Rajawat.”
The viral photo shows Rajawat, in the centre, leading a group of male lawyers and court officials, outside the Supreme Court of India. The photo came as a refreshing change in a time when instances of crimes against women dominated headlines across the country.
Rajawat had said that she was threatened by different groups and was pressured to drop the case. Yet, she asserted that she would fight tooth and nail for justice for the victim’s family.
Twitterati lauded Watson for speaking out and expressing her support to Rajawat.
Others felt differently and said that she should get her facts right and not support Rajawat blindly.
