On 13 November, Abdul Rehman, a 90-year-old street food vendor was attacked by a group of men in Bohri Kadal, Srinagar. They went on to steal his life savings of approximately Rs 1 lakh after beating the old man.

Before the police could catch the culprits, Senior Superintendent Sandeep Chaudhary decided to personally help out and make the situation better by donating Rs 1 lakh to Rehman.

"Sometimes it takes time to catch the culprits. I saw his face in the video and decided to help him. Money is not a big problem even iPhone costs more than a lakh but for him, it was his life savings that were lost," said Chaudhary in a statement to The Kashmir Monitor.

He even explained that Rehman feared his money would get misplaced or stolen, which is why he always carried it with him. Rehman had saved about Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand that he had divided into two parts of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 60,000 that he kept on his person.
