If a student does not get good marks in NEET then what other options can he explore?
Anil Dhawan

Dear Anil,

First, analyse your Class 12 board marks + NEET score. If you are unhappy with the scores, then maybe you should re-evaluate your goals. However, if you really want to study medicine and you are not getting admission to a good medical college in India, then perhaps, you can look at studying MBBS outside India. Philippines is emerging as the top choice for studying medicine. JIMS University (with its campuses in Jaipur & Delhi) & VELS University (with its campuses in Hyderabad & Chennai) in association with CHED (Commission on Higher Education, Philippines) have signed an MoU, through which, you can study one-year pre-med in India and the remaining four years in Philippines. The best part about this course is that you will have the licence to practice medicine globally on successfully completing the course.

However, if you are looking for options other than medicine, then pharmacy, B. Sc, psychology, life sciences, radiology, physiotherapy, veterinary sciences, microbiology, zoology, biology, botany etc are really good options.

If you have studied mathematics in Class 12, then you can opt for Maths (Hons), Statistics (Hons) etc; as well.

Whatever you choose, please ensure that you have an interest in the subject, else no matter what you study, you will not find it enjoyable.

I got 86% in my Class 12 boards with PCB. Can I get admission in DU for B.Sc courses?
Awadhesh Tiwari

No matter what, we suggest that you apply for multiple courses in DU right away, since the applications are on right now. The application process is on until 5 June, 2018. Once the application process ends, we will be in a better position to evaluate the estimated cut-offs in DU depending on the number of applications as well the average scores of the students who have applied.

While applying, ensure that you apply to multiple courses across colleges. Don’t stick to the same set. Some options include B.Sc general, B. Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology etc.

I have completed my graduation from Delhi University in B.Sc physical sciences in 2017. Then I started to study for government job exams, particularly bank jobs but failed to clear it. Now, I have a gap year and I’m worried. Which course or diploma should I do so that it helps me in future and I’m also able to prepare for the job at the same time?
Mrinal Awasthi

Dear Mrinal,

From your query, can we safely assume that you want to pursue a career in banking in the government sector? If that’s the case, then we suggest that you study a Diploma or a PG Certificate course in banking operations; sales, banking & NBFC, finance & accounting, general insurance and health insurance etc, while you prepare for banking exams.

Studying MBA or PGDM or Masters in Commerce is also an option.

I passed my Class 12 from CBSE board with 88.6% and my best of four is 91.5%.  Which colleges should I keep in mind while applying for DU for English (Hons)? Also, I am not able to exactly understand the procedure of Fergusson College, Pune. Could you please help me understand if I am eligible to apply there? I am not from Maharashtra, so is that going to be a problem?
Harshita Vyas

Dear Harshita,

DU admissions – We suggest that you apply to as many colleges possible while applying for B.A (H) English. Ensure that you make a healthy mix of colleges – from the most sought-after colleges to the ones that are not so popular. Chances of getting in will be higher. So even if you don’t make the cut in the first or second list in some, you may stand a fair chance of getting admission in the first list itself in others. DU releases 6-7 cut-off lists (depending on the number of seats/college), so you will have a wider pool to choose from.

Fergusson College, Pune – The admission process for Fergusson College, Pune is simple. Here are the steps:

You will need to pay Rs 500/- as enrolment fee and attach enrolment fee receipt with information form. Also, 85% seats are reserved for Maharashtra domicile students. If you fare in the top 15% (in case your domicile is out of Maharashtra), then you stand a fair chance of getting admission.

I want to know that when the form of UG admission of SOL(School of Open Learning) DU is released. Please tell me the date.
Mahesh Paswan

Dear Mahesh,

The UG admission forms for SOL is usually out in the month of June and continues till July. For 2018, the official body has not announced the exact date yet. You can apply to the following UG programmes in SOL:

· B. Com (H)

· B. Com

· B.A (H) English

· B.A (H) Pol. Sc

· B.A Programme

Stay tuned for latest updates on SOL admissions 2018.

I got 81.2% in my Class 12 exam in the commerce stream and now I want to apply for B.Com or B.Com (H). So can I apply to Indraprastha University now?
Anurag Singla

Dear Anurag,

The Application forms for IP University were released in March, 2018. Admission at IPU is based on Common Entrance Tests (CET) for most subjects and they were/are being conducted in May 2018.

Applications to other universities like Amity, Sharda, Manav Rachna etc, will open in June, along with DU. We suggest that you apply to these colleges before the window closes. Or tell us the courses you are interested in applying to and we will do our best to suggest you the colleges you can apply to.
