In today’s day and age, buying a house is a painstaking and laborious task. But owning one is just as a struggle as well, and residents of Jaypee Klassic know this the best.

Many of us moved into Jaypee Klassic in Sector 129, Noida, a couple of years back. And they were relieved to finally own a house and say goodbye to all the housing troubles. But we were wrong.

Jaypee has provided us with dilapidated constructions, ill-maintained parks and unsafe surroundings.

“We had an agreement. The agreement that’s often talked on paper. According to the on-paper agreement, we haven’t got the facilities promised to us. The swimming pool is still under-construction. [We have a] badminton court, or is it the basketball court? I don’t know what this is? From no angle it looks like a basketball court.”

When you construct a tall structure, there should be basic facilities like working elevators. But that too is not here.

“The current condition is so bad that even our lifts are not working. I stay on the 15th floor, when lifts stopI have to climb 15 floors. My house help doesn’t even climb the 15 floors. She says, ‘Your lift is not working, I won’t come’.This has been the condition for the last seven months.

But the important question is, we pay our monthly maintenance to Jaypee Klassic, but where is that money really going?

“There is no account of our maintenance money. Why are they charging us so much maintenance? And on what basis are they charging so much? But they are just taking this amount from us and when we ask them, they say they’ve received orders from the bosses. They are not giving us any details as to what they are doing with our maintenance money.”
Gaurav Shukla, Resident

For 3BHK that is roughly 1,564 square foot, we pay around Rs 3,821 or more per month for maintenance. This includes, common area maintenance, Rs 2,768, common area electricity, Rs 553, water charges Rs 500. We also pay for electricity meter rent. We are paying so much, we need to know where our money is being used.

In fact, residents here have contributed and installed CCTV cameras.

“Jaypee has told us that they don’t have the funds to install CCTV cameras. They don’t have Rs 10,000.And, in Noida, the highest maintenance is charged to us.”
Pankaj, Resident

All we are asking is for the judiciary, IRP ( Insolvency Resolution Professional), to take strict action, so that the residents can be provided with some facilities. The residents who are staying here are risking their lives. Any day, a mishap can happen.

The Quint reached out to Jaypee builders but have not received any response from them. The copy will be updated once we hear back from them.
