At The Quint, we understand a person’s first vote is important for not just one, but for a bevy of reasons. The political angle aside, it’s the young voters who symbolise the need for reform and change in any democracy. But how do first-time female voters look at elections? What are their demands and how happy are they with present sets of governments?

To answer these these questions, The Quint and Facebook have launched ‘Me, The Change,’ a campaign that discusses issues at the heart of first-time women voters across India.

As part of the campaign, we spoke to 32 young women voters in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, who listed high fees, unemployment, reservation and a spurt in wine shops as major election issues for them. Apart from these pressing concerns, the girls also underscored the need for a change in how the society views women and their rights.
