The final of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, on 26 May. The schedule for remainder for the IPL season was released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, with Chennai being allocated two playoff matches, including the final.

Earlier in the first phase of schedule announcement, dates of the first 21 fixtures – till 7 April – were announced, while it was stated that the remaining schedule will be declared once the 2024 Indian general election dates were confirmed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

It has now been confirmed that the final will be played in Chennai, alongside Qualifier 2. The first two matches of the playoffs – Qualifier 1 and Eliminator – will be played in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The tournament will be played in India in its entirety, as opposed to previously circulated rumours of the caravan shifting to another country.

The second phase's schedule has six double-headers, to be played on 14 April, 21 April, 27 April, 28 April, 5 May, 12 May and 19 May.

Four IPL 2024 matches will be coinciding with general election dates:

  • 19 April: Lucknow Super Giants vs Chennai Super Kings (Lucknow)

  • 26 April: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings (Kolkata)

  • 7 May: Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals (Delhi)

  • 13 May: Gujarat Titans vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Ahmedabad)

Along expected lines, it has also been confirmed that the Delhi Capitals will play their last five home games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital, after having Visakhapatnam as their home for the first two matches.

Meanwhile, Dharamsala, which has been Punjab Kings' second home for a while, will be hosting a couple of matches – against Chennai Super Kings on 5 May and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 9 May.
