When Tim Cook, CEO, Apple launched the new iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, in his usual pomp and show, no one expected the word trypophobia to trend. As the slew of new devices were being presented, people noticed the three camera design of the new iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Pro Max, and they got triggered.
According to Live Science, trypophobia is an ‘extreme aversion to clustered patterns of irregular holes or bumps.’
So if we looking at images of honeycombs cells, bubbles, corals, lotus seed pods etc makes your skin crawl, you may be among the thousands who suffer from it. Sometimes, just a description of these patterns are enough to trigger the symptoms. These may include, feeling sick, heart racing, or just disgust.
Just to be very clear,
According to studies, phobias affect nearly 10% of all adults in the world but a lot of people people use the term ‘I am afraid of’ in the same breath as ‘I’m phobic to’ - the two aren’t interchangeable.
Warning: The following images can be triggering to those with trypophobia.
