NASA Images Show Rising Air Pollution in Delhi Post Diwali

Air Pollution Level in Delhi After Diwali: While many are welcoming this environment-friendly move by the top court, it throws up more questions than answers.

NASA’s real-time images of the Earth on Monday, 28 October, paint a devasting picture of the effects of crop burning and air pollution in India - specifically in North India.

28 October was a day after Diwali, and the US space agency’s images suggest that crop burning was concentrated around North-west India mainly, though specks were seen spotted throughout the rest of the country.

NASA images show an alarming increase in crop burning incidents

The images for today, 29 October, have not been released so far, but judging by the smog in the air, we can expect a similar image.

On Monday, the AQI (Air Quality Index) showed a reading of upto 999 for PM 2.5 in Delhi, while today, 29 October, showed 349.

A reading between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe.'
