Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have revealed the name of their fourth baby, Psalm West, almost a week after announcing the birth of the baby boy through a surrogate mother.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star took to social media for the much awaited revelation.
The name seems to be inspired by Kanye’s growing interest in religion (Sunday service at Coachella). Psalm is a book mentioned in the bible.
The baby boy is the couple’s fourth child after North, 5; Saint, 3; and Chicago, 1. Chicago and Psalm were both conceived through surrogacy.
Earlier in December 2018, the Surrogacy (Regulation) Bill, 2016, that ensures effective regulation of surrogacy, prohibits commercial surrogacy and allows altruistic surrogacy to the needy Indian infertile couples, was passed by the Lok Sabha.
The Bill permits surrogacy only for couples who cannot conceive. The surrogate mother and the intending couple need eligibility certificates from the appropriate authority. The surrogate mother must be a ‘close relative’ of the intending couple.
The Bill also provides for the constitution of a National Surrogacy Board, State Surrogacy Boards and appointment of appropriate authorities for regulation of the practice and process of surrogacy.
The Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on November 21, 2016 and was then referred to a parliamentary standing committee on January 12, 2017.
Surrogacy is an arrangement whereby an intending couple commissions a surrogate mother to carry their child.
