28 July is observed as the World Hepatitis Day. Globally 1.4 million people die each year from hepatitis and this day serves as a reminder to governments and policy makers to know the disease and take action.
According to the World Health Oganisation, hepatitis is preventable, treatable, and in the case of hepatitis C, curable. However, over 80% of people living with hepatitis are lacking prevention, testing and treatment services.
This year, countries across the globe are urged to ‘Invest in Eliminating Hepatitis’ to achieve globally agreed hepatitis goals by 2030. The first step is awareness.
So, how aware are you of this silent killer? Take this quiz to find out.
