Republic TV founder and news anchor Arnab Goswami found himself with his foot in his mouth when he accidentally referred to Sunny Deol as Jism 2 actor Sunny Leone instead. The blooper happened during live coverage of the counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on his news channel.
Sunny Deol is contesting on the BJP ticket in Punjab’s Gurdaspur. Early numbers indicated he had a strong lead over his Congress counterpart Sunil Jakhar.
Sunny Leone appeared to be quite amused by Arnab’s gaffe. She responded to him in a tweet saying, “Leading by how may votes???? ;)”
Social media missed no opportunity to poke fun at the goof-up. “I am sure if @sunnyleone would have contested elections here she would have won any seat,” tweeted a Twitter user.
Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary. She was a contestant on season 5 of Indian reality TV series Bigg Boss and made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Mahesh Bhatt directorial Jism 2.
She has also featured in films such as Ragini MMS 2, Hate Story 2, Mastizaade and Raees. A web series based on her life, titled Karenjit Kaur - The Untold Story of Sunny Leone is currently streaming on Zee5. She was last seen opposite Arbaaz Khan in supernatural thriller Tera Intezaar and has Tamil film Veeramadevi and Malayalam title Rangeela in the pipeline.
