Rhea Chakraborty on Monday, 7 September filed a complaint before the Mumbai Police against Sushant Singh Rajput's sister Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and others for forgery under the provisions of Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020.

"The complaint has been registered for having sent a bogus medical prescription depicting Sushant Singh Rajput as an Out-Patient Department (OPD) person when he was in Mumbai on 8 June 2020. The drugs prescribed are listed in the Schedule of NDPS Act as psychotropic substances. The Tele Medicine Practice Guidelines 3.7.4 dealing with Prohibited List, prohibits prescribing of any Narcotic or Psychotropic Substance listed in the NDPS Act", says Rhea's lawyer Satish Maneshinde.

“Sushant died within five days after obtaining this unlawful prescription,” Chakraborty says in her complaint, adding, “It is imperative that actions of Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar and others be investigated and that it be determined as to how they came to provide the deceased with such a bogus and unlawful prescription”.

The complaint further states that the "drugs prescribed by the doctor (Dr Tarun Kumar) were prohibited from being prescribed electronically under the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020."

The complaint is based on an exchange between Sushant and Priyanka from 8 June, which surfaced some time back. As per the chats, Priyanka is seen recommending medicines for anxiety. When pointed out by the late actor that the medicines can't be procured without a prescription, Priyanka reportedly arranges for one.

The prescription was given by cardiologist Dr Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi and bears his signature and stamp.

Rhea, who left Sushant's place the same day when the alleged conversation took place, has alleged in her complaint that the forged prescription violates laws on prescribing "narcotic or psychotropic substances".

Sushant's family has always maintained that they were not aware of his mental health problems. Recently, in a press conference, Sushant's family lawyer Vikas Singh also said that Rhea would never share the details of Sushant's illness with his family.

WHAT SUSHANT’S FAMILY LAWYER SAYS

Vikas Singh, Sushant’s father’s lawyer said that the complaint filed by Rhea is a clear effort to keep the jurisdiction of Mumbai Police in this matter when SC said complaints with regard to the death of Sushant will be investigated by CBI.

“his is a clear attempt to somehow keep the Mumbai Police alive in this matter so that they can do some mischief and ensure that the family of Sushant does not get justice in this matter,” he told ANI.
