Dia Mirza represented India at the United Nation Climate Action Summit 2019 in New York on 23 September. The Bollywood actor has been campaigning for the environment and has advocated against the use of single-use plastic. She met the UN General Secretary, António Guterres, and was also present while Greata Thunberg spoke about climate change.

Dia Mirza was appointed the UN Goodwill Ambassador for India earlier this year. The UN Climate Action Summit 2019 focused on the global transition to renewable energy, sustainable and resilient infrastructures and cities, sustainable agriculture and management of forests and oceans, resilience and adaptation to climate impacts, and alignment of public and private finance with a net-zero economy.
