K-pop band, BTS, has announced that they are going on a hiatus to focus on their solo careers. The announcement was made during the recently held FESTA dinner, an annual celebration of the band's 2013 debut.

The announcement comes after nine years of being together as a K-Pop band. BTS members RM, Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, Suga, J-Hope and V have all released music earlier.

In the Festa video, the band reflected on their journey and RM said that they’ve achieved a lot as a band but it’s time for them to grow as individual artists.

He also revealed that he felt like he lost 'grasp' after 'Dynamite' and he didn't know what kind of group BTS is anymore.

"Personally, it was like BTS was within my grasp till 'ON' and 'Dynamite'. After 'Butter' and 'Permission To Dance', I didn’t know what kind of group we were anymore. When I write lyrics, it was important for me to give out a message, but it seemed like that was gone now. I don’t know what kind of story we should tell now."

J-Hope said, “I think we should spend some time apart to learn how to be one again. I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing, and see it as a healthy plan. I think BTS will become stronger that way.”

Jimin added, “We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what, we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans. I think now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered (as),” and Suga chimed in to confirm that they’re not ‘disbanding’.
