On 14 March, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan revealed that his next film would be a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. However, he did not share any other details. According to latest reports, the film will be based on 1984 Sikh riots. Forrest Gump starred Hollywood actor Tom Hanks.
Earlier, there were speculations that the film would be inspired from the Babri Masjid demolition. However, a source close to development has rubbished the claim and said that Laal Singh Chaddha will be based on 1984 Sikh riots instead.
In June, it was confirmed that actor Kareena Kapoor Khan would be joining the cast of Laal Singh Chaddha. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “IT’S OFFICIAL... Kareena Kapoor Khan teams up with Aamir Khan in #LaalSinghChaddha... Inspired by the classic #ForrestGump... Directed by Advait Chandan... Written by Atul Kulkarni... Produced by Viacom18 Studios and Aamir Khan Productions... #Christmas 2020 release.”
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor were last seen together in Talaash and 3 Idiots.
Laal Singh Chaddha is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. it will be directed by Advait Chandan, who earlier directed Aamir in the film Secret Superstar. The script of the adaptation has been penned by actor-writer Atul Kulkarni. Aamir also mentioned that he would be losing around 20 kgs for his role in Laal Singh Chaddha. It is scheduled to release during Christmas 2020.
Aamir Khan’s last film was Thugs of Hindostan, which also starred Katrina Kaif, and Amitabh Bachchan.
