As India witnesses one of its worst slowdown in the automobile industry, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s remarks on Tuesday, 10 September – citing millennial preferences as a reason behind the slump – left netizens confused.

During her presser on the ‘bold’ decisions of the 100 days of the Modi 2.0 government, the finance minister said:

“Automobile industry is now affected by BS6 and the mindsets of millennials, who now prefer to have Ola or Uber rather than committing to buying an automobile.”

With this, many on Twitter questioned the finance minister’s source of information while others pointed out to the “truck driving millennials” using Ola and Uber transporting good.
