A week ago, on 5 March, the BJP’s official website was hacked. There was a meme featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose caption reads “Brothers and sisters, I've fooled all of you. Brothers and sisters, we’ve fooled all of you. More to come! Many, many congratulations!”

Below the meme was a video with the song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Soon after, the website was shut down for maintenance. It has been more than six days now, and the website hasn’t whirred back into action yet. And Tweeple couldn’t resist poking fun at the party for not being able to restore the website.

“Will the mandir be made first or the website,” asked one Twitter user.

Some used one of BJP’s favourite catchphrases – ‘How’s the Josh’ – to make fun of the situation.

BJP is trying to get back both ‘achhe din’ and its website, said another Twitter user.

Is this Digital India?

Some quoted the BJP’s claims of ‘digital india’, and pointed out the irony of the situation.

Blame It On Nehru

Did Nehru do it, joked Tweeple, likely taking a dig at BJP’s tendency to blame Nehru for the problems India faces today.

‘Country Is In Safe Hands’

How can you protect the country, when you cannot restore your own website, Twitter asked.
