Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati hit out at Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his Minimum Income Guarantee scheme or Nyay. In a tweet, she targeted the BJP and the Congress in the same breath and said, “Ruling BJP calling Congress slogan of Garibi Hatao 2.0 as bluff is true.”

She further compared the two parties and said that the “BJP and Congress party are both birds of the same feather in betraying the interests of the poor, labourers, farmers & others.”

Gandhi announced the Minimum Income scheme on Monday in which he promised Rs 72,000 annually or Rs 6,000 a month to 20 percent of India’s poorest families.

Gandhi has also asserted that he has consulted “big economists” including former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan before it came up with the idea.

This is Mayawati’s latest offensive against Gandhi ever since she announced her alliance with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. She had earlier she hit out saying that the party should not create confusion, brushing aside the grand old party’s offer of leaving seven seats to the SP-BSP-RLD alliance in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.
