Will Decide New PM After Election Results: Harish Rawat

Congress leader Harish Rawat said that they would decide after election results who the Prime Minister would be.

“Our leader has said it clearly we'll decide after election results that who will be the Prime Minister. But like Sharad Pawar Ji has said it again and again, 'coalition government have always been successful', an example of which is 2004-2014, when Singh was king,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said for the first time since Emergency, people of the country are fighting elections to re-elect a government, adding trends of the first four phases of Lok Sabha polls show the Congress and its allies are staring at defeat.

Speaking at a poll rally in Gwalior, he alleged while the Congress displayed India's poverty to the world, his government has highlighted the nation's power.

He told the gathering that he had come not to campaign for himself, but to thank the people for supporting him since 2014.

Modi Will Go Down in 2019 With Rafale Taint: Sidhu

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, saying he had come to power in 2014 with a promise to clean the Ganga but will go down in 2019 with the 'Rafale' taint.

He claimed that the Modi government did not have a single achievement to its name and was deflecting from real issues.

"In 2014, Modi said neither will he indulge in corruption, nor will he allow others to do so (na khaunga, na khane dunga) but he has done just the opposite," the Punjab minister said.

"He came to power in 2014 seeking votes to clean the Ganga, but he will go in 2019 with the Rafale taint," Sidhu said, referring to the allegations levelled by his party against Modi on the multi-billion fighter jet deal.

Schools in Rajouri Within 5 Km of LoC to Remain Shut Tomorrow

Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir said that schools within a certain distance of the LoC in Keri sector would be shut on 6 May. “As a precautionary measure and keeping in view safety of the students, all government and private schools up to 10+2 level within 0-5 km distance from LoC in Keri sector (Education Zone Doongi) of Rajouri shall remain closed tomorrow,” he said.

EC Rejects Plea Seeking Rescheduling of Voting Commencement During Ramzan

The Election Commission rejected the plea seeking rescheduling of the commencement of voting from 7 am to 4.30-5.00 am during the month of Ramzan.

"Commission does not find it feasible to alter the existing hours of poll for the 5th, 6th & 7th phase of general elections to the Lok Sabha, 2019," the EC said.

BJP Responsible for Attack on Me, We Will Not Be Silenced: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP was responsible for the attack on him during a roadshow and claimed he was targeted because he had been lately questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "relationship" with Pakistan.

The AAP supremo, at a press conference held at the party headquarters, said this was not just an attack on him but an assault on the people of Delhi and the mandate they had given.

Modi Targets Rahul Over Association With UK Firm

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday targeted Rahul Gandhi for his alleged association with UK firm Backops, saying the Congress president's "scams" were being "unearthed from land, air and water".

Referring to Gandhi, Modi while speaking at rally in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar said the "naamdar" gets exposed every time he tries to malign him and the more he is targeted, the more 'lotus' will bloom.

The Home Ministry recently served a notice on Gandhi, saying it received a representation from BJP MP Subramanian Swamy, claiming that a company named Backops Limited was registered in the United Kingdom in 2003 with the Congress leader as one of its directors.
