The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday, 20 April, decided to extend the night curfew to all municipal/local urban body limits in all the 20 districts of the Union Territory, in view of the rising COVID cases.

Announcing a slew of measures to check the COVID spread, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said on his official Twitter handle, "The corona curfew at night shall be extended to all Municipal/urban local body limits of all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. It was already in force in eight districts earlier from 10 pm to 6 am."

Are there any restrictions on shops?

Yes, only 50 percent shops in market complexes/bazaars/malls within Municipal limits/urban local body limits shall remain open on an alternate basis through a rotation system.

What are the restrictions on schools and colleges?

As per the earlier orders, all universities, colleges, schools and coaching centres will remain closed till 15 May.

What are the restrictions on gatherings?

The limit on the number of people permitted at funerals is 20; 50 for all kinds of gatherings at indoor venues, whereas as many as 100 people can gather at outdoor venues.

Is public transport open? Are there any restrictions?

Matadors/buses/mini buses and other modes of public transport will be allowed to ply strictly as per their registered/authorised seating capacity. No standing passengers will be permitted.

What are the guidelines for people from other states travelling to J&K?

All travellers coming to Jammu and Kashmir, whether by rail, road or air, will have to compulsorily undergo a COVID-19 antigen test.

District magistrates have been advised to devise a mechanism to implement these curbs preferably in consultation with local market associations.
