Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was on Monday, 10 August, discharged from Manipal Hospitals in Bengaluru after he recovered from COVID-19, reported ANI, citing information from Chief Minister’s Office.

Meanwhile, former President Pranab Mukherjee, on Monday, tweeted saying he has tested positive for COVID-19. The 84-year-old asked those who came in contact with him in the past week to self-isolate and also get tested.

With a single-day spike of 62,064 cases, India’s total COVID-19 tally crossed 22 lakh with over 44,000 deaths on Monday, 10 August, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

India Records Highest Single-Day COVID-19 Recoveries, Says Govt

Even as India crossed 21 lakh COVID-19 cases, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Sunday 9 August, said the country also recorded the highest number of recoveries in a single day. The total number of recovered cases touched another high of 14,80,884 as on Sunday.

India Records Over 62K Cases, 1K Deaths in Last 24 Hours

India recorded a single-day spike of 62,064 COVID-19 cases and 1,007 deaths on Monday, 10 August, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total tally in the country rises to 22,15,075 including 6,34,945 active cases, 15,35,744 cured/discharged/migrated and 44,386 deaths, said the ministry.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was on Monday, 10 August, discharged from Manipal Hospitals in Bengaluru after he recovered from COVID-19, informed Karnataka Chief Minister's Office (CMO), according to ANI.

The CM had tested positive for the disease on 2 August.

No Timeline for Reopening of Schools Decided Yet: Report

No timeline has been decided to open schools. The opening of schools will depend on the situation of COVID-19. So far only Union Territory of Chandigarh has expressed an intention to open schools, Government Sources reportedly informed ANI.
