Maharashtra on Friday, 18 September, reported 21,656 new coronavirus cases and 405 fatalities, taking the tally in the state to 11,67,496 and the death toll to 31,791.

Meanwhile, 4,127 new infections and 30 deaths were recorded in Delhi, which took the national capital's case count to 2,38,828.

Earlier on Friday, India reported 96,424 new coronavirus cases, which pushed its tally to 52,14,678. The death toll increased by 1,174 to 84,372, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka Ashok Gasti, who was admitted to the hospital with severe COVID-19 pneumonia, passed away late on Thursday, 17 September.

24,619 New COVID-19 Cases in Maharashtra

Maharashtra on Thursday reported 24,619 new COVID-19 cases and 398 fatalities, taking the tally in the state to 11,45,840 and the death toll to 31,351.

India Records Spike of Over 96K Cases

India on Friday, 18 September, reached a total of 52,14,678 COVID-19 cases, recording a spike of 96,424 cases. The death toll increased by 1,174 cases to reach 84,372, even as the number of discharged patients reached 41,12,551, data from the Union Health Ministry said.

810 New Cases Reported in Rajasthan

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan rises to 1,10,283 with 810 new cases reported today till 10.30 am. The number of active cases is 18,282 and the death toll is at 1,301, the State Health Department said.

Maharashtra Energy Min Nitin Raut Tests COVID Positive

Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut says he has tested positive for COVID-19. He is the ninth member of the state cabinet to contract the infection, PTI reports.

High-Level Central Team to be Deputed to Jammu in View of Rising COVID-19 Cases

Ensure Uninterrupted Movement of Medical Oxygen: Centre to States

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Friday wrote to the chief secretaries of all states and Union territories, urging them to ensure uninterrupted movement of medical oxygen and to set up multi-disciplinary teams to continuously monitor the availability of medical oxygen.

Some states are trying to curb the inter-state movement of oxygen supplies from manufacturing units, the Home Ministry representative said, adding that such curbs should be ended.

National Parks, Zoological Gardens to Reopen in West Bengal from 23 Sept

All national parks, zoological gardens and ecotourism destinations in West Bengal will reopen for visitors from 23 September, with bookings to be made online, the forest department said, reported PTI.

Body temperatures will be checked at the entry points at these places.
